Vertis Environmental Finance, euets.com and New Values announce
1.197 million EUAs from the Hungarian Government sold today for € 7.42 per tonne
Budapest and Amsterdam – 11 December 2006 - Vertis Environmental Finance coordinated an auction of EUAs for the Hungarian Government on the euets.com CO2 exchange, using the Climex auction platform. Buyers have been bidding a total volume of 3.42 million EUAs. A total of 1.197 million EUAs have been sold to optimize revenues, for a price of € 7.42 per tonne.
A total of 1.200.000 emission allowances were on offer in this first electronic auction on the Climex trading platform. Vertis had a second auction planned for 18 December 2006. Since almost all allowances have been sold, this second auction will not take place.
All entities or individuals holding an account at an Emissions Trading Registry of any of the EU member states were able to participate in the auction through one of the Climex Alliance partners. Comprised of regional partners throughout Europe, the Climex Alliance includes New Values (based in The Netherlands), Vertis Environmental Finance, euets.com (based in Hungary), SENDECO2 (based in Spain), STX Services (based in The Netherlands) and APX Group (based in the UK and the Netherlands).
The Climex Spot platform was closed during the morning and reopened in the afternoon, to give members the opportunity to trade their acquired EUAs.
