A total of 37,764 VERs from a Wind Farm Project in China will be on offer in a VER Auction on the Climex Exchange. The auction is scheduled for 14 May 2008.
The issued VERs are from 2006 to 2007 and have been validated and verified by TÜV Nord and accredited with the VCS 2007 standard. The minimum price the auction will start at is € 4.50.
“We think this is a very attractive project for potential buyers, because it is a relatively small renewable energy project which has already been registered as a CDM project. Only the first year of production, which took place before CDM registration will be sold as VERs. The additionality standards of the CDM regime have been applied. It therefore offers an interesting possibility to buy high quality VERs”, explains Sascha Bloemhoff, Commercial Director of Climex. “With the VER auctions we want to offer buyers a direct way to purchase the credits they need straight from a project in an easy manner. The main goal for Climex auctions has always been to create standardisation, liquidity and transparency, to optimise the distribution chain and to provide access to carbon emission rights against low costs. With our current volumes we are the second largest spot exchange for EUAs and furthermore we hope to also provide a new group of players access to VERs.”
Members of Climex automatically receive full details of the auction and the project. Buyers interested in participating in the auctions can contact Climex for more information or register for free membership with the Climex Exchange at the website: www.climex.com. A transaction fee of 1.75% applies to all successful transactions.
The auction will take place on 14 May 2008 from 14.00 - 16.30 hours Central European Time. The format of the auction will be open, which means anonymous bids will be visible to all participants. The seller prefers to sell the full quantity of VERs to one single buyer and will therefore, if possible, sell all the VERs at the maximum value. However the seller reserves the right to sell partial quantities at higher prices or nothing at all if prices are not as high as expected.
