Electricity Auction
On 23 September 2008, Climex Energy Auction auctioned the 2010 and 2011 electricity contract for the Dutch Ministry for Housing, Regional Development and the Environment, with an option on the electricity supply for 2012 and 2013. During the one-hour auction, five interested suppliers competed on price. After the auction, the contract was awarded to the supplier who offered the best price.
Guarantees of Origin Auction
On 9 October 2008, Climex Energy Auction auctioned the Dutch Government’s need for Guarantees of Origin. During the day, eight different lots for 2008 and 2009 were auctioned. At the end of the day, contracts had been awarded to supply Hydro Power, Small Scale Hydro Power, Wind Energy and Biomass certificates, with a total amount of 830,350 MWh for GoOs 2008 and 948,350 MWh for GoOs 2009. Out of 12 interested suppliers, 6 were granted a contract.
It is the aim of the Dutch Government, which has been agreed to several years ago, to have the total energy consumption of the Dutch Government supplied by renewable energy as of 2012.
