A number of Registries have gone live in the past months, which is a huge step forward for the Voluntary Carbon Market in terms of transparency, transferability and reliability.
But which Registry is offering what? And what are the costs involved? Climex often receives these questions, which is why we have created an easy-reference overview of all major registries, their features and prices.
Climex has played an active role in helping to standardise the voluntary market, because we believe this is the only way to make this market more accessible and open it up to more participants. Even though offsetting is supposed to be at the tail end in the line of reducing, re-using and recycling, we still believe that an active and reliable voluntary market which is open and comprehensible to everyone helps putting the subject of emission reductions on the strategic agenda.
The launch of the registries allows for the issuance and electronic transfer of VERs which have been verified to a certain VER Standard (Gold Standard, VCS, VER+). The registries play an important role in the standardisation of the market, but with so many different registries available, especially for the VCS standard, it is still difficult for many end buyers to see the wood for the trees and choose the registry which best meets their needs. In order to support interested parties in their selection Climex is now offering an overview of the existing VER registries including their technical specifications, the products they offer and their costs for membership and transactions and so forth. We have contacted all Registries and have tried to be as complete as possible, but we always advice you to directly contact the registry before making a final selection.
The Registry Overview can be found on our website and you can also order a copy with our Customer Service Desk at csdesk@climex.com. We will do our utmost to keep the overview on the website up to date, but we cannot be held responsible for any changes since the date of publication.
