Netherlands sells 4mln EUAs at 14,10

The Dutch State Treasury Agency auctioned 4 million European carbon emissions permits at 14.10 euros a tonne, it said on Thursday. The Netherlands' first auction raised 56.4 million euros ($76.93 million) for the Dutch Treasury. The auction was 4.18 times over-subscribed. On France's BlueNext spot exchange the permits, called EU Allowances, were up 8 cents at 14.12 euros a tonne at 1014 GMT. The Netherlands plans to auction a total of 16 million EUAs before the end of 2012.
The country’s next auction will be September, when another 4 million EUAs will be sold. The money from the sale will go towards paying for programmes to stimulate renewable energy projects in the country. (Source: Reuters)
