A price floor for carbon in the EU emissions trading scheme needs to be investigated, Martin Crouch, director of European strategy at UK regulator Ofgem said on Monday. “We support efforts to make a stronger carbon price,” Crouch told Montel on the sidelines of the annual Eurelectric conference in Dublin on Monday. “The price [of carbon] needs to be higher to drive investment decisions. There needed to be a bolstering of the predictability of CO2 prices so that they were not driven by analysis and forecasts of future energy policy, he told delegates earlier in the session.
